Best Foods For Healthy Skin

At Hamptons Glow® we take anti-aging seriously, very seriously. For us, Beauty is a Lifestyle® affecting all areas of life, including nutrition. Or, as we like to call it, Beauty Nutrition.

We indulge in beauty foods that work to protect against aging and inflammation with natural antioxidants and nutrients that encourage cell rejuvenation. This feeds your body all the nutrients it needs for your healthiest skin before applying any topical products. So here’s a peek inside our pantry, five beauty-full foods we always stock up on.

Dark leafy greens are basically your bestie when it comes to getting and maintaining glowing skin. They contain important vitamins and minerals that are necessary to replenish and hydrate skin.

Kale, spinach, collards and arugula lead the beautrition pack, so be sure to fit one serving into each meal for maximum results by getting creative. There are infinite ways to enjoy them, sautéed, steamed, in a smoothie, green juice, a salad, just to name a few.

Essential fats are called “essential” for a reason. These are fats that pack a heavy punch of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, nutrients that help to plump and hydrate skin by attracting water to skin cells helping prevent & reduce wrinkles.

Other benefits include a smoother skin texture, shinier and healthier skin and nails. The best way to load up on these fats is to incorporate plant-based fats like avocado, nuts and flax into your daily meals.

But our all-time favorite is flax oil, which has a balance of omega 3, 6 & 9 plus lignans for breast health. Another added bonus is that flax oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids, which studies have shown have a furnace effect on belly fat. Yes, eat (good) fat for a stomach that's flat!

This particular oil is meant to be consumed unheated, so mix it in with regular salad dressing, smoothies or in oatmeal. (check out our Lemon Flax Dressing below!)

Sweet potatoes aren't just for Thanksgiving. By incorporating this superfood into your diet several times per week, you’ll load up on important antioxidants vitamin A + C to help smooth wrinkles by stimulating collagen production & fight free radicals from everyday exposure to pollution and harmful UV rays.

Canned Tuna Don't overlook that humble, inexpensive can of tuna tucked away in your cabinet. Not only is it easy and convenient, it can get you on your way to glowing perfection.

In one can of tuna, you get a healthy serving of skin-firming protein and a supreme dose of Selenium, an important nutrient to preserve elastin to keep skin smooth and tight. And better yet, Selenium also wards off free radicals produced by UV rays, helping protect against solar damage.

Tomatoes are another excellent way to get your glow. Their secret beauty booster is lycopene, a photochemical that has been shown in studies to help protect against damaging free radicals to your skin caused by everyday exposure to pollution & UV rays.

So, jump on the Beauty Nutrition bandwagon and try to squeeze as many servings as possible of these beauty foods into your diet each week.
