self tanning spray, cream self tanner, self tanning cream, sunless, bronze, sunkissed

Streaks and blotches are two words that should never be in your self tanning vocabulary. More importantly, they don’t have to be. With premium self tanning products from Hamptons Glow, you can get sunkissed skin that looks like you’ve recently returned from a place of palm trees, UV rays, and crystal clear water. So, put these tips into practice and people will never know your tan came from a self tanning bottle.

Always start with a good exfoliating scrub

Exfoliating is the number one rule to a streak free tan. Without it, you’ll be tanning dead skin cells that will eventually fall off, making your sunless tan appear speckled or patchy. So, take a nice hot shower, grab your best loofah and slowly exfoliate your skin with small, circular motions. If you can do this regularly, all the better. Just be sure to avoid an oil-based scrub, as it can leave a film on your skin.

Keep your skin moisturized

An excellent way to avoid streaks and blotches from your sunless tanner is to keep your skin rich and moisturized. The more hydrated your skin is, the less dry skin cells you’ll have to exfoliate. As a result, your chances of a less-than-flawless self tan is instantly lowered.

Just be sure to avoid moisturizing on the day you plan on self tanning, as it can disrupt the formula of your tanner. So, use a moisturizing self tanning lotion instead and infuse your skin with peptides while you get that desirable glow.

Let out the stream prior to applying self tanner

If you followed the number one rule to applying self tanner, your bathroom will be nice and steamy after your pre-tan shower. It’s crucial to let the heat and steam empty out prior to applying your sunless tan, as the moisture can cause you to sweat and your tan to streak.

With that said, you also want to make sure your body temperature has also had a chance to cool prior to applying your bronzed glow.

Practice makes perfect

While it may sound cliché, practice does make perfect. The better you get at applying your self tanning lotion, the better the self tan will appear. However, that doesn’t mean you’re subject to streaks and blotches if you’re a sunless beginner. Just take your time with application, pay attention to each area before moving onto the next and don’t rush. Before you know it, you’ll be a self-proclaimed self tanning expert.

Avoid getting dressed for at least 15 minutes

Every self tanner needs a sufficient amount of time to set into your skin which is why it’s recommended to apply self tanning lotions and sprays at night. However, even then, it’s important to take some time away from the fabrics. Whether it’s a shirt or your bed sheets, avoid them for 15 minutes to keep your sunkissed glow on you and not on your belongings.

Stay in for the night

If you can avoid leaving the house for six to eight hours, it’s definitely worth considering. The environment can jeopardize your tan as it interrupt the setting process. So, stay out of the hot weather and avoid activities that make you sweat for a couple of hours. Again, the best time to apply your new sunkissed look is at night; you’ll get plenty of time for the bronzing to set in.

Avoid cheap self tanners

The most important self tanning secret of all is to use high quality, premium self tanning lotions, creams or sprays. The lower the quality, the higher risk you have of looking like a zebra – or worse – an Oompa Loompa.

So, stick with Hamptons Glow for a flawless, sunless tan.
